Overgate Shopping Centre will be hosting Macmillan Cancer Support as their charity of the month in July.

For the month of July, Overgate will host an information point for anyone with questions or concerns, and anybody with cancer that need some additional support. Macmillan staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and signpost people to services in the City and surrounding areas so anyone can drop by and find out about the help provided in Dundee and Tayside. Macmillan provides physical, emotional and financial support throughout the area to people with cancer and anyone affected by a loved one’s diagnosis. For those with children there will be materials available to help keep the wee ones occupied whilst you speak to Macmillan. There will also be the opportunity for members of the public to share their memories and thoughts for loved ones affected by cancer by placing messages on the wall opposite the customer service desk.

Current projections estimate that 1 in 2 people will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime and currently in Tayside it is estimated that there are over 14,000 people living with and beyond cancer, this is expected to rise to over 23,000 by 2030. Macmillan has a number of services in Dundee to support people affected by cancer physically, financially and emotionally. All of these services will be visiting the Overgate during the month and will bring a number of free resources with them for the public to take away.
