Overgate concludes ‘Food Bank Month’ initiative in partnership with the Trussell Trust

Overgate has hailed the success of an initiative for Food Bank Month with The Trussell Trust, the UK charity that runs a network of over 420 foodbanks that provides emergency food to people referred for support.

A drop off point was created at the Customer Service Desk within Overgate where customers were invited to donate items such as tinned or dry foods, as well as food in jars, plus adult and baby toiletries including nappies.

The initiative which launched on the 1st of October ran for the month and saw 2,508 items donated with an estimated value of £3,403.

In the last year foodbanks in The Trussell Trust Network gave 1,332,952 three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis.

Speaking about the initiative, Morag Dennis, Operations Manager, Overgate said;

We were delighted to be coordinate this initiative with The Trussell Trust, a wonderful charity dedicated to combating poverty and providing help to those most in need. Throughout Food Bank Month, the public donated items to boost Christmas supplies for local food banks by visiting the Customer Service Desk. We would like to thank everyone for their generous contributions.”
