Boots at Overgate Shopping Centre in Dundee is celebrating one of its employees winning the Charity Champion award for the region.

Dispensing Assistant, Paul Davidson, 35, was awarded the accolade through the store’s ‘Best of the Best’ scheme, an initiative that promotes and acknowledges excellence among its 3,000 stores UK-wide.

As winner of the region, Paul is automatically short-listed for Charity Champion of Scotland and Northern England and should he be successful he will go on to the national awards in London next year.

Paul has raised over £6,000 since April for his chosen charity, MacMillan Cancer and has set himself a target figure of £10,000. He has organised gala evenings, bingo and quiz nights, coffee mornings and bake sales.

The current window display at Boots was designed by Paul and is in support of Children in Need. He is also organising a ‘superhero’ day to raise funds.

Paul Smith, Store Manager at Boots said:

“This is a great achievement and we are very proud of Paul. He is always encouraging fellow employees to get involved in fundraising activities and we hope he is named Charity Champion for Boots nationally. He most certainly deserves it.”

Malcolm Angus, Overgate Centre Manager added:

“Congratulations Paul. Overgate encourages charitable activities from retailers and the Boots ‘Best of the Best’ scheme award is a great example of this. We wish Paul and his team all the best with their fundraising efforts.

“As a centre we are especially proud of our long-standing partnership with local charity, Help for Kids.”
