Days Out
Art & Culture
Dundee has a long heritage in the visual arts and a thriving arts scene, influenced by Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, one of the top art schools in the UK.
Our two favourite arts venues in the city are
McManus Galleries - a splendid Gothic Revival-style building displaying Dundee's main collection.
DCA (Dundee Contemporary Arts) which in addition to exhibitions and art space also has a cinema and holds workshops, classes and talks.
Keep the kids entertained
Camperdown Country Park is the largest public park in Dundee. As well as the park itself you'll find Camperdown Wildlife Centre, family fun fair, adventure playground and golf courses - a great fun-filled day out for all the family.
See the Camperdown Park website and Wildlife Centre website for more details.
If the weather's not great, head to Olympia Leisure Centre for swimming including waves, waterslides, rapid river and dive pool.
Museums
Mills Observatory is the UK's only full-time public Observatory, and houses an impressive Victorian retracting telescope, a small planetarium and displays on the solar system.
Dundee Science Centre - Sensation - brings science to life in dozens of imaginative ways, with shows and interactive displays and exhibits.
Discovery Point is the home of RRS Discovery, the ship built in Dundee specifically for scientific research in Antarctica. Follow in the footsteps of Captain Scott and his crew on one of the most heroic voyages of exploration ever undertaken with audiovisual shows, computer-based interactive displays and artefacts.
