iPhone 8, Everything you need to know!

Every year, we wait in anticipation for the latest iPhone release (along with the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte) and this year is no different with the 10th anniversary editions.

Three new iPhones mark the occasion – the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X (aka, iPhone 10). And if this isn’t enough, Apple have also revealed a 5th generation 4K Apple TV and a 3rd generation Apple Watch!

We have put together 6 simple points below to tell you everything you need to know about the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus…

  1. Appearance

This version will be available in three colours; silver, space grey and the still much-loved rose gold, all in a glass finish. A new OLED screen (check google for the full meaning, we did!) means colours will be crisper, blacks will be blacker and whites will be brighter, giving a more HD quality to the iPhone screen.

  1. Measurements

If size matters to you, the iPhone 8 will have a 4.7 inch screen and the 8 Plus will have a 5.5 inch retina HD screen.

  1. Battery life

Music to our ears is that both versions are way more efficient on power than ever before! And, forgetting (or breaking) your charger is a thing of the past as Apple have introduced wireless charging into the new models. So now you’ll be able to place your phone on a charging mat and charge it without wires.

  1. All about the selfies

Whilst the camera is more or less the same as the iPhone 7, there are a few minor upgrades. The 8 Plus’ camera has had a slight upgrade with a new dual telephoto wide lens in the rear camera (so you’ll get amazing depth of field; perfect for those smug infinity pool photos on holiday). There’s also an improved flash, which has been optimised for augmented reality. An exciting new portrait mode with several studio lighting effects, including stage light and contour light are also featured on the 8 Plus – yep, these are going to be your best selfies yet.

  1. iOS 11

Some of the most exciting features of this software update are;

  • An update to the camera and photo apps, meaning better low-light photography and a new bounce-and-loop effect for live photos, similar to a Boomerang
  • A redesigned control centre and app store
  • Improvements to Apple Music
  • New safety features, including ‘do not disturb’ while driving
  • Siri will sound more human and can translate into other languages
  1. Price and availability

The cheapest iPhone 8 model available to buy from Stormfront is £699 for 64GB, and the 256GB option is £859. iPhone 8 Plus starts from £799 for 64GB and £949 for 256GB.

However, visit one of our mobile operators (O2, Three, EE, Carphone Warehouse, Vodafone, Virgin Media) where you can take out a contract deal and snap it up for a more manageable price.
