Behind the scenes on a fashion shoot

Festival IMage1

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a part of a fashion shoot, so many people are involved and one of the key people is the stylist’s assistant, this month our blogger has been lucky enough to be behind the scenes at a very busy photo shoot with The Dundee Courier and is excited to share her experience with you.

Day 1

I arrived at Overgate and met Mary, the lovely lady in charge of all PR for the Overgate. Our job for the day was to go shopping and style outfits for a Festival Fashion shoot to be featured in The Dundee Courier – every girls dream job!

Our first stop was Debenhams where we styled a few outfits that could be worn to Rewind Festival. All items were from Mantaray at Debenhams which is not someplace I would have thought to shop however they had the perfect selection of pac-a-mac’s with eye catching prints, ideal for any festival, I’ll definitely be back!

Our second look to style was for T in the Park.  We were spoiled for choice with outfit ideas from Topshop and New Look as they are both packed with festival favourites this season. Our favourite two looks from Topshop included a bright yellow sundress paired with a khaki parka and the second look was a pair of denim dungarees co-ordinated with a paisley print blouse. Both styled with converse from Office, these outfits are both comfort driven and chic at the same time, perfect for 3 days in sunny (hopefully) Perthshire!

Our final look styled from French Connection, and my personal favourite was for Glamis Prom. We selected a slouchy drape dress featuring a paisley print co-ordinated with a simple cropped denim jacket and metallic espadrilles. This is a more stylish festival look, ideal for an event such as the Glamis prom and can easily be worn dressed up or down for another occasion.

We finished the day by meeting model Caitlin-Rose so as we could have a visual of all the outfits and make sure all the sizes were correct. I never realised before this point how much planning has to go on behind the scenes of a photo shoot, it is not as easy as they make it look on the TV!

Day 2 to follow next week….remember and check back to see how it all came together, I’m off for a cuppa and well-earned rest!
