Pastels 5 Ways

Guess who’s back……the pastels trend is hot every spring/summer season however if you are unsure of how to introduce paler hues in to your everyday outfits, get your pencils at the ready because our Overgate blogger has some style tips for you. With shades such as mint, peach, pink, lilac, powder blue and yellow everywhere we look, there is no escaping this trend! Our favourite celebrities including Rochelle Humes and Rihanna have been spotted wearing sugary shades and whilst we may not want to dye our hair candyfloss pink, we definitely don’t want to miss out on this one.

Follow these five tips to easily spruce up your SS15 wardrobe with candy colours that look good enough to eat!

1.    Bags
There is no doubt at all that we all love to find an excuse to buy a new handbag and this trend is no exception. A pastel handbag can be added to almost any outfit and it will be sure to freshen it up and keep you on trend without taking you out of your comfort zone. Our favourites include this statement bag from Fiorelli at Debenhams. With three separate compartments your handbag will never be so organised.

2.    Shoes
Shoes are another favourite of ours and also an easy way to introduce a pop of pastel colour in to your outfit without feeling overly sweet. Add a spring in your step with new season shoes from New Look or if you are looking for something a bit more formal, Dune in Debenhams have a selection of elegant pastel staple style pointed toe court shoes with matching clutch bags – perfect for prom!

3.    Jewellery
There is nothing like a statement necklace to brighten up an outfit. Chunky pastel necklaces will sweeten up all your outfits in a flash. You can even match it with your handbag for a super co-ordinated look.

4.    Nail polish
Nothing puts us in a better mood than a fresh manicure and pretty pastel nail polish is the easiest way to add candy colours to your look. These brand new shades from the Pure Colour range at New Look are available in store now at only £2.99 each. Don’t feel like you need to stick to one colour, with 25 shades available you can mix and match to your hearts content. If you are unsure of the sweet candy colours, try a nude hue such as ‘mink’ for a natural and healthy look that will go with any outfit.

5.    Clothing
Transform your usual denim look with a candy coloured pair of jeans from Oasis. Pair them with a light cami top and kimono for a laid back look. When the weather doesn’t match, find yoursef a light knit jumper or sweatshirt in an uplifiting candy colour to stay on trend. Don’t forget if you are lucky enough to be jetting off on a summer holiday this year, Primark have some of the hottest holiday pastel pieces at very affordable prices. And for all our lovely students who have an end of year ball or graduation, head over to Quiz clothing and the Coast department in Debenhams for the perfect pastels for prom!
